The President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko received the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Semyon Shapiro for a report on February 1. The Governor reported to the Head of State on the results of the socio-economic development of the region in 2010 and for the past five-year period as a whole. The President was also informed about the approaches developed by the Grodno Regional Executive Committee for the implementation of the plans for the upcoming five-year period. In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State given at the meeting with the region's asset in May 2010, the region has significantly increased the growth rate of industrial production.
In particular, during the report, the issue of preparing the region's agricultural enterprises for spring field work was raised. Currently, 70% of the required amount of fertilizers is available for sowing, including a significant amount of phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers. Issues of staffing and technical assistance are also being addressed.
A total of about 20 issues were considered, including the construction of major investment projects. The Head of State gave instructions on creating a more favorable transport infrastructure in the city of Grodno.
Given that, according to the results of 2010, the Grodno region did not fully fulfill the socio-economic development forecast in the field of agriculture and housing construction, the President was informed about the measures being taken to rectify the situation.
