On June 25, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. American business has shown interest in implementing a production and tourism project in Vitebsk, on Pokrovskaya Street, where Marc Chagall was born. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by American businessman Jerry Ruchievsky.
According to him, in early July, the director of a pension fund, who is interested in investing funds, will arrive in Vitebsk. His interest is driven by a specific project of Vitebsk Winery OJSC, which is proposed to be implemented on Pokrovskaya Street, where Marc Chagall was born. The Chagall family house has survived on this street to this day; it now houses the artist's memorial museum. "Belarus is an attractive country for business. This attractiveness is due to its geographical location - practically in the center of Europe - and environmental safety. And the investment and tourism attractiveness of Vitebsk is associated with the name of Chagall," the interlocutor is convinced. He is confident that the project of the Vitebsk enterprise will be implemented through joint efforts.
As the director of Vitebsk Winery OJSC, Vyacheslav Sapronov, told a BELTA correspondent, the project envisages reorienting the winery's production to the output of fruit and berry vintage wines, improving tea production, and creating a tourist complex on the basis of the enterprise. The complex will include a wine cellar with tasting rooms, a restaurant, a cafe, a tea shop, an art gallery and an art salon, as well as a shop for tea and related accessories. The idea of this project is based on the fact that the Vitebsk winery is located in an area that is part of the so-called Chagall Quarter, and the factory management is housed in a building with the status of a historical and cultural value.
The proposal for the reconstruction of the enterprise to make it a tourist facility was developed by a creative workshop under the leadership of Leonid Levin, Honored Architect of Belarus. The renowned architect proposed giving Pokrovskaya Street an appearance close to the early 20th century. Considering the special significance of the Marc Chagall House-Museum as a tourist attraction, the infrastructure convenient for tourists should be created here, with numerous souvenir shops, cafes, a hotel, an exhibition hall, and even an art school.-0-
