During a direct telephone line and personal reception of citizens, the President's Aide - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Anatoly Linevich, considered appeals on issues of housing and communal services, land management, afforestation, and others, reports BELTA correspondent.
Seven appeals were received by the President's Aide from the Polotsk district. Citizens were interested in problems of improvement, repair, water supply, enterprise development, and logging. The elder of Dretun, Polotsk district, on behalf of all residents of the settlement, asked to regulate the train schedule, which the local population uses to get to the district center. The train runs only twice a week, and the ticket is three times cheaper than the bus, which is much more profitable for pensioners and summer residents. Moreover, it is more convenient to transport bulky purchases by rail. The pensioner noted that the residents of Dretun would like the train to run at least twice a day back and forth on the same days according to the schedule, instead of standing at the terminal station for six hours. Anatoly Linevich instructed to review the schedule as soon as possible, find reserves, and, if it is unprofitable to run a half-empty train, reduce the number of carriages, but not leave the residents of Dretun without transport links with Polotsk.
A resident of Novopolotsk, who called the direct line, was concerned that local forests are thinning due to logging, and she does not observe new plantings. Anatoly Linevich told the applicant that this is a planned felling, and the remaining single trees that the woman noticed are intended for natural seed dispersal. In addition, forestry enterprises are regularly engaged in planting. The President's Aide advised the district leadership to conduct explanatory work through the media together with the local forestry enterprise so that citizens understand the situation with sanitary and planned logging and have an idea of where and for what purpose forests are thinned and the forest fund of the district is replenished.
A resident of Polotsk raised a question regarding land management and plot registration. Due to a technical error by the relevant service, which the head of the organisation acknowledged, the deficiency was rectified. However, the applicant refused to accept the district executive committee's decision and appealed due to the plot boundary being close to her house, where a gas pipeline runs, and a dispute over territory with her neighbour. Anatoly Linevich advised her to seek legal recourse to definitively settle the dispute. The Inspector for the Vitebsk Region also instructed the district executive committee's specialists to visit the site together with employees of the gas service to clarify the situation and identify possible solutions.
The ventilation system in the apartment of an elderly resident of Polotsk is not functioning properly. Housing and Communal Services specialists had previously conducted an inspection and installed individual ventilation. A representative of the servicing organisation assured that they would re-examine the valves and replace them if they were faulty.
Two residents of Polotsk, living in a building over 70 years old, reported problems in their entrance hall. From August, the building will undergo major repairs, as noted by the district Housing and Communal Services, and the heat point located in the entrance hall will be relocated. Anatoly Linevich instructed that current repairs be carried out by April 10th, and he took the major repairs and their outcomes under his personal control.
A resident of the urban settlement of Vetrino attended a personal meeting with the President's Aide with proposals for the development of an experimental base and improvements in the settlement. Anatoly Linevich listened to the applicant's comprehensive issues and instructed that the problems be resolved in conjunction with Housing and Communal Services and the local authorities.
The President's Aide noted that the situation regarding citizens' appeals in the Polotsk District has significantly improved compared to the initial meetings. Residents are not raising egregious issues; almost all major problems are being promptly resolved by the local authorities. "It is gratifying that the residents of the region, and particularly the Polotsk District, notice the improvements being made in the region and express gratitude for the positive changes. It is also pleasant that citizens remain engaged with what is happening in Polotsk, not only focusing on their own problems but also caring about the future," emphasised Anatoly Linevich.
