Official delegations from Germany, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia, as well as representatives from Belarusian regions and districts of the Vitebsk Oblast, along with creative groups showcasing the cultures of various nations, arrived for the festival. Guests and participants were welcomed by the festival's hostess, the Cherry Queen, who led a ceremonial procession along the central street of Glubokoye to the city's central square. The grand opening ceremony of the new art object took place here.
Oleg Morhat, Chairman of the Glubokoye District Executive Committee, explained to journalists that local authorities aim to develop the forum. "We want each festival to leave a memorable mark. And since the main goal of the celebration is to unite people, we decided to embody this idea in the decorative and artistic composition 'Friendship of Peoples'," said the Chairman of the District Executive Committee. "At this year's festival, we also planted an oak grove. The oak is a long-lived tree. We hope our festival will also live long, the grove will grow with new trees, and the celebration will gain new friends."
The "Cherry Festival" is being held in Glubokoye for the fifth time. "We have a festival symbol – the 'Vishnevik' (Cherry Man), and the festival's hostess is the Cherry Queen. We wanted the residents of Glubokoye and its guests to be able to immerse themselves in a fairy tale," noted Oleg Morhat.
The festivities in Glubokoye continued with the program "Happy Anniversary, Festival!". A review competition of farmsteads titled "Cherry Cellar" is underway, along with an exhibition-fair of works by folk artisans and master classes on making cherry souvenirs. The program also includes numerous other events: the solemn marriage registration "Cherry Wedding," a competition for accordionists, a fashion show for participants of the "Miss Extreme" beauty contest, the gala concert "Cherry Blossom of Friendship," the "Cherry Pie" auction, a fireworks display, and the youth event "Cherry Open Air."
The festival is organised by the Ministry of Culture, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Glubokoye District Executive Committee.
