16 November, Minsk /Andrei Asfura - BELTA/. Austrian company Bertsch plans to build a thermal power plant in Vitebsk that will operate on local types of fuel. This was announced today to a BELTA correspondent by Hubert Bertsch, President of Bertsch group and President of the Federation of Austrian Industries, who is participating in the VII Belarusian Investment Forum. Austrian company Bertsch today signed a framework agreement on investment intentions in the energy sector with the State Production Association "Belenergo". From the Belarusian side, the protocol of intentions was signed by Aleksei Shirma, General Director of SPO "Belenergo", and from the Austrian side - by Hubert Bertsch. The investor plans to build a power plant that will use local types of fuel with a high coefficient of efficiency, primarily peat. This will reduce the import of gas and fuel oil from Russia. The final cost of the project will be known after negotiations, but it is estimated to be around 30-35 million euros. Austrian company Bertsch has been present on the Belarusian market for several years. It is involved in the production and supply of equipment for food industry enterprises, as well as the energy sector. The company is known for its steam generators, which increase the efficiency of converting steam energy into electrical energy. The company was founded in 1925.
