Motorists, check the expiry date of your driving documents!

The Main Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs states that recently, cases of driving vehicles with expired driving documents are being detected more and more frequently.

We remind you that from the day the established term of validity of a driving license expires until its exchange, the person is considered not to have the right to drive a mechanical vehicle.

Driving a vehicle without the right to drive, as well as transferring control to a driver without such a right, entails liability in the form of a fine ranging from 5 to 20 basic units. Repeated violation within a year is punishable by a fine of up to 50 basic units, or community service, or administrative arrest. Repeated driving of a vehicle without the right to drive entails criminal liability.

To exchange a driving license, you must apply to any examination unit of the State Automobile Inspectorate with an application. You must have an identity document, the old driving license, a medical certificate of health status, and proof of payment for the service.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urges you to check the validity period of your driving documents: licenses, compulsory insurance contracts, permits for participation in road traffic, and to take care of their timely exchange.
