15 August, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The vehicle fleet of the duty units of the Vitebsk region police will be expanded. This was announced today to journalists by the Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Igor Evseev, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has allocated over Br1.3 billion to strengthen the material and technical base of the Internal Affairs Directorate. These funds will be used to purchase 11 vehicles for the duty units, which will enhance the promptness of police officers' response to citizens' requests and their arrival at the scenes of offenses or crimes.
Igor Evseev also noted that police officers are actively involved in the harvest campaign. Eleven police representatives are directly engaged in the grain harvesting, working on combine harvesters. "In general, the main staff is involved in the prevention of theft in the agro-industrial complex. Mobile groups, operating jointly with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and district executive committees, conduct control checks at farms daily, both day and night," he said.
Furthermore, today the staff of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee celebrated the 94th anniversary of the establishment of the Vitebsk Provincial Police. A ceremonial event took place at Victory Square. A number of officers from the Internal Affairs Directorate were awarded certificates of commendation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for their valiant service. -0-
