On August 15, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Kayaks will be the primary mode of transport for Russian and Latvian tour operators during their trip around the Vitebsk region. The promotional tour for active recreation organisers is set to launch on August 16, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The route will traverse the territories of Vitebsk, Polotsk, Braslav, and Glubokoe districts, as well as the cities of Vitebsk, Polotsk, Braslav, and Glubokoe. The programme includes sightseeing bus and walking tours, but the main focus will be on kayaking trips along the lakes and rivers of the Pozerie region. Over the four days of the journey, participants will have to paddle three times. Additionally, the tour participants will attend the opening of the III Festival of Medieval Culture "Mech Brachislava" in Braslav. A presentation of water tourism routes in the Glubokoe district will be held for them, including the "Belarusian Venice" route and a kayaking expedition. The journey will conclude on August 19 with a horse ride.
Such a packed programme is driven by the demand for active recreation, as explained by specialists. It is no secret that the main contingent of tourists visiting the region consists of people over 40 years old, for whom so-called nostalgic tourism is of interest. However, the niche for youth recreation remains open. This tour's programme is specifically designed for this category of travellers.
The Department has no doubt that the new route will be in demand. It is sufficient to mention that not all interested companies could be accommodated in the promotional tour. The inaugural journey will be undertaken by 22 representatives of travel agencies from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Vladimir, Tula, Smolensk, and Daugavpils.-0-
