19 December, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. The Union State's electricity balance for 2013 will be signed in the coming days. This was announced today at a press conference by the Director General of the RUE "Belenergo" Aleksei Shirma, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
According to Aleksei Shirma, the indicative balance for electricity supply has already been agreed upon at the expert level. The supply volumes correspond to the agreements made at the 2012 level.
"As for specific supply contracts, the entire negotiation process has already been completed. An analysis is currently underway to make a final decision," said the Director General of "Belenergo". He explained that Belarus purchases additional electricity volumes only if it is economically feasible. "There is a certain procedure. It will be completed in the coming days," noted Aleksei Shirma.
In October 2012, the Minister of Energy of Belarus, Aleksandr Ozerts, announced that in 2013, the republic might import 5 billion kWh of electricity from Russia. Of this amount, 3 billion kWh will be guaranteed supplies, and 2 billion kWh will be supplied subject to economic benefit. The Minister also noted that possibilities for importing electricity from Ukraine are being calculated. Furthermore, Aleksandr Ozerts mentioned that in the current year, Belarus plans to import 7 billion kWh of electricity, of which approximately 5 billion kWh will be from Russia.-0-
