20 March, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. A database of historical and cultural values of Vitebsk will be created in the regional center. Its formation is envisaged by the program for the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Vitebsk for 2012-2015, which was approved today at a regular session by the deputies of the Vitebsk City Council, BELTA correspondent reports. Commenting on the adopted program, the head of the culture department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Natalia Shienok, emphasized that such a document is being adopted in the city for the first time. The main goal of the program will be to ensure the maximum degree of protection of historical and cultural values included in the state list. For this purpose, objects requiring repair and restoration work have been identified, new material objects and intangible manifestations of human creativity will be identified, and initial conservation of architectural monuments in unsatisfactory condition is also planned. In the regional center, 236 objects have the status of historical and cultural values. According to Natalia Shienok, some of them require urgent measures to put them in order and prevent further destruction. The culture department of the City Executive Committee notes violations of legislation regarding the placement of advertising on historical and cultural objects. Only 180 objects have protective signs installed, with 123 signs installed in the last two years.-0-
