Belarus is ready to supply equipment for the construction of a canal between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans

This was stated by Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei in the program "Main Air" on the Belarus 1 TV channel, who summed up the results of his recent visit to the Latin American country.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei in the program "Main Air" on the Belarus 1 TV channel, who summed up the results of his recent visit to the Latin American country.

"Nicaragua has begun the practical implementation of an ambitious, very interesting idea of building an interoceanic canal - between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. For us, this project is of real, concrete interest in the context of supplying BelAZ heavy-duty vehicles, MAZ trucks, and road construction equipment there," said the head of the foreign affairs agency.

In addition, in his opinion, Belarus and Nicaragua can establish cooperation in the agro-industrial complex. "In Nicaragua, out of five million hectares of land suitable for agricultural use, only 1 million is currently used. I think that here is a huge area for our specialists, agricultural scientists, and enterprises producing agricultural machinery," noted the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vladimir Makei pointed out that Belarus has been known in Nicaragua since Soviet times. This country "shows great interest in developing cooperation with Belarus," he added.

Regarding interaction with Ecuador, the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted: "I think that the prospects for our cooperation are opening up broadly. During the meetings, we also discussed the supply of Belarusian equipment. The issue of signing further agreements on avoiding double taxation and mutual protection of investments is on the agenda of our relations." This will allow the parties to form a full-fledged contractual and legal framework, which will be a serious basis for comprehensive cooperation in all areas. Vladimir Makei recalled that Belarus and Ecuador are already actively cooperating in the fields of petrochemicals and seismic exploration. -0-
