"Machine building, agro-industrial complex, medicine and healthcare, ICT, petrochemicals and construction, science and technology will be priority areas of interaction for Belarusian and Kaluga enterprises and organizations in the coming years. It is planned to intensify scientific, technical and inter-university cooperation, and to organize information exchange in the field of innovation and high technologies," the press service said.
In addition, joint participation in the renovation of elevator equipment and rolling stock of urban passenger transport in the Kaluga region, the sale of buses from OJSC "MAZ", electric transport produced by OJSC "Management Company of Holding "Belkommunmash", as well as products of Belarusian enterprises in the machine tool, metalworking, electrical and other industries are envisaged.
In accordance with the Prime Minister's decree, Chairman of the SCST Alexander Shumilin has been appointed responsible for the development of cooperation with the Kaluga region of Russia. "The Kaluga region is a long-standing and important trading partner of Belarus. For January-September 2020, the trade turnover amounted to $412.2 million. The main export items are ferrous metal structures, medicines, insulated wires and cables, agricultural products, trucks," the press service noted.
The parties are also implementing a number of investment projects, including in the field of construction. From 2013 to 2020, Belarusian organizations built more than 20 residential buildings, three schools, and four kindergartens in the Kaluga region. Work on the construction of other social infrastructure facilities is ongoing.
