The first meeting of the Belarusian-Kazakhstan Interdepartmental Working Group on developing promising areas of bilateral cooperation in agriculture was held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) during the Belarusian-Kazakhstan Business Forum, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs.
As noted, trade and economic cooperation in the agro-industrial sector between the countries is dynamically developing, especially in the supply of agricultural products and foodstuffs. The parties discussed promising areas of joint work: the implementation of meat and milk processing projects for further export of products to the PRC market, the supply of Belarusian breeding cattle, and the creation of a joint venture for the production of veterinary drugs to meet the needs of the domestic market of Kazakhstan and with a view to export to third countries.
Also at the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation and joint activities was signed between OJSC "BelVitunipharm" (Belarus) and Limited Liability Partnership "Weider Pharm" (Kazakhstan).
The Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs noted that agricultural products account for about 30% of the total volume of Belarusian exports to Kazakhstan. In January-August, the trade turnover of agricultural products and foodstuffs between the countries reached $197.7 million, with exports amounting to $187.2 million and imports to $10.5 million. Belarus supplies beef, cheeses, curd, sausage products, dry milk whey, prepared and preserved meat products, poultry meat, starch, and malt extract to Kazakhstan. "Constant work is underway to expand the list of export items," the ministry added. "For example, since this year, Belarusian-bred breeding cattle have begun to be supplied to Kazakhstan. 245 heads worth $280.8 thousand have already been delivered."
