Belarus and Cuba need to elevate their trade and economic ties to the highest level of political contacts, and the countries will achieve this. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to journalists following talks with President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"To fully realise the potential of bilateral cooperation, we need to bring our trade and economic ties up to the highest level of political contacts. And we will do it," said the Belarusian leader. "The President of Cuba has just proposed a simple, clear formula. He says it's time to stop importing what we can produce, including what we can produce together. Let's create joint ventures in Belarus and Cuba. That's acceptable! We need to implement this sound model in the near future."
Belarus offers Cuba not only the export of goods and services but also active participation in developing all mutually beneficial areas and directions based on comprehensive and strategic partnership.
"We are ready to introduce modern scientific achievements and technologies into the Cuban economy for the successful implementation of joint projects designed for long-term economic and, most importantly (which is important for Cuba and for us), social impact. Even today, we are implementing similar projects in Cuba in the fields of industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and food. An assembly production of tractors and their mounted and trailed equipment has been established," Alexander Lukashenko cited several examples.
