Belarus and Norway are developing documents on visa facilitation and cooperation in nuclear safety. These issues were discussed in Oslo on the eve of the latest round of consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
The Belarusian delegation at the negotiations was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko, and the Norwegian delegation by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Audun Halvorsen.
"Taking into account the recent signing of agreements between Belarus and the European Union on visa facilitation and readmission, an agreement has been reached on the preparation of similar documents between Belarus and Norway in the shortest possible time. The parties also welcomed the targeted efforts of the relevant departments of the two countries to coordinate the draft agreement on cooperation between national nuclear safety authorities," the press service of the foreign ministry noted.
During the consultations, the development of political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation, the formation of a treaty and legal framework, and interaction in international organizations were discussed. The negotiations considered issues of the regional agenda and international security, and the development of relations with the European Union, the Council of Europe, and third countries.
Diplomats noted a significant intensification of Belarusian-Norwegian interaction in recent years, including in trade, stated the mutually beneficial and balanced nature of trade turnover, and emphasized the intention to jointly address emerging problems and seize opportunities for expanding cooperation.
On the eve of the consultations, Oleg Kravchenko spoke at a Belarusian-Norwegian business breakfast. The main topic of the event was the export of Belarusian IT services to Norway. The meeting was attended by about 50 representatives of Norwegian business circles, including the management of the Norwegian Investment Fund for Northwest Russia and Eastern Europe. Protocols on cooperation were signed between the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation and the Norwegian company Nordic Molecule Group AS in the field of production and sale of compound feeds for fish and other biotechnological products.
