Belarus and the World Bank have defined tasks for the implementation of agreements on further cooperation. During the meeting, Jan Chul Kim noted the close cooperation between the Government of Belarus and the World Bank. At the same time, he emphasized the high quality of construction work performed by Belarusian specialists on the final section of the M5 Minsk-Gomel highway, the reconstruction of which was carried out with the direct participation of the World Bank.
The parties discussed the implementation of projects in the transport and housing and communal services sectors, financed by World Bank loans: modernization of the M6 Minsk-Grodno transit corridor; integrated solid waste management; development of water supply and wastewater disposal systems.
Particular attention was paid to the preparation for the active phase of the reconstruction of the M6 Minsk-Grodno highway. The government has instructed subordinate organizations to ensure the commencement of work on this facility in July of the current year.
The meeting participants also discussed the prospects for further interaction in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the Republic of Belarus, including with the involvement of financial structures of the European Union.
The implementation of new programmes in the housing and communal services sector was noted. Emphasis was placed on proposals submitted by the government to the World Bank for financing projects on the construction of iron removal stations, the transition of Minsk to water supply from underground sources, the creation of facilities for the production of alternative fuel from solid municipal waste, and the conversion of boiler houses to local fuels.
