By the end of the five-year plan, Belarus should reach an annual milk production of 10-10.5 million tons, stated the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich at a meeting in Dokshytsy on the construction and reconstruction of dairy farms in the Vitebsk region, according to a BELTA correspondent. "It is necessary to reach a milk production volume of 10-10.5 million tons, compared to just over 6 million tons at the beginning of the five-year plan," emphasized the head of government. According to him, the work to fulfill this task should be accompanied by the solution of a number of related issues, primarily concerning the sale of dairy products. "The government pays a lot of attention to product processing in order to provide competitive products for sale in foreign markets," he added. In this case, no more than 15% of the growth can be directed to the domestic market. Everything else should be export-oriented. In this situation, a competent marketing policy becomes of particular importance for enterprises. "With such local approaches, which are sometimes encountered, and without access to large dairy companies, the successful resolution of issues related to increasing the production and export volumes of dairy products is not possible," is confident Mikhail Myasnikovich. In addition, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of forming a modern, balanced feed base by farms at dairy farms. This is one of the keys to successfully increasing milk production. Attention should also be paid to optimizing the livestock population at such facilities. Mikhail Myasnikovich reported that in 2011, 83 new dairy farms need to be commissioned in Belarus, and 7 in the Vitebsk region. Analyzing the implementation of projects in the Vitebsk region, the Prime Minister noted that as of December 1, only one such farm had been commissioned in the region, with the rest being at a high degree of readiness for launch. In this regard, he appealed to the heads of regional executive committees and district executive committees with a request to intensify the implementation of such projects and complete their construction and commissioning within the deadlines.
