On September 9, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Belarus is a leader in the post-Soviet space in organising assistance for children with ENT diseases. This opinion was expressed in an interview with a BELTA correspondent by Yakov Nakatis, Chief Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor. He is taking part in the scientific and practical conference "Topical Issues of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology," which opened today in Vitebsk. According to the scientist, today, diseases of the ear, throat, and nose and related areas account for about 30% of the structure of childhood morbidity. In addition, the problem of treating and reintegrating deaf children into the social environment remains relevant worldwide. "The use of modern medicines helps save young patients, for example, from severe pneumonia, but at the same time, such drugs can also cause harm, so today the issues of therapy, the choice of the optimal treatment algorithm, and the order of organising care for sick children are relevant," he believes. In solving these problems, according to Yakov Nakatis, Belarusian otorhinolaryngologists hold a leading position among their colleagues from the CIS countries. At the same time, it is especially important to combine the order of organising care (including ensuring that parents know where to seek help and how medical facilities should be equipped) with the disease treatment algorithm developed directly by doctors, the professor emphasised. Another important area is the management of treatment quality, which translates into the management of quality of life. And here much depends on parents, who must properly raise a child, including in matters of hygiene, and also create normal conditions at home, on which the child's health ultimately depends. "The entire complex of these problems forms a peculiar circle of health, which will be discussed at the conference in Vitebsk, including thanks to the broad representation of participants and the programme competently developed by the Belarusian organisers," added Yakov Nakatis. Leading specialists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine are taking part in the conference. Over two days, researchers and practicing doctors will consider a wide range of issues related to the prevention and treatment of ENT diseases in children and adolescents, and will also discuss the application of high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods in otorhinolaryngology.
