January 9, Minsk / Vera Sergeeva - BELTA/. The project "Creation of a unified system for supporting entrepreneurship and establishing business contacts for sustainable cross-border cooperation between Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus" has been approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus of December 30, 2013 No. 1167 "On Approval of International Technical Assistance Projects", published on the National Legal Portal, BELTA correspondent reports.
As noted by Alexandra Velichko, Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee's Economy Committee, the project will be implemented through the EU Cross-border Cooperation Programme "Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus". The planned duration of its implementation is 16 months. The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry acts as the partner from the Belarusian side. The Minsk City Executive Committee coordinates and controls the project implementation.
The project aims to establish long-term cooperation between entrepreneurs in the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus cross-border territory through the effective use of innovations. It provides for the creation of entrepreneur support and information centres, a unified virtual platform, and the organisation of forums and seminars.
Alexandra Velichko emphasised that there is currently insufficient information available on business cooperation opportunities in Lithuania, Latvia, and Belarus, including in Russian, Latvian, and Lithuanian languages. This hinders entrepreneurs from entering the international markets of these countries. The project aims to address this issue.
It is expected that the project implementation will contribute to improving cooperation between enterprises, chambers of commerce, and universities in the cross-border territory, and to entrepreneurs acquiring new knowledge and skills through participation in business training. This will lead to an increase in the turnover of goods and services between the project partner countries. -0-
