A Belarusian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo, is participating in the events of the international agricultural exhibition "Green Week - 2018" in Berlin from January 18 to 21, at the invitation of the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Christian Schmidt. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Green Week" is the world's largest forum in the field of agriculture and food. Approximately 1,600 exhibitors from Germany and over 70 countries worldwide are presenting their products and services on an area of 125,000 sq. m. The exhibition is expected to be visited by over 400,000 people.

The Belarusian delegation took part in the official opening ceremony of "Green Week" and also held bilateral meetings. In particular, a conversation took place between Igor Brylo and Christian Schmidt, during which the parties discussed the prospects for further cooperation, including on ensuring food and veterinary safety. The head of the Belarusian delegation also invited the head of the German agricultural department to visit Belarus and participate in the annual international exhibition "Belagro".

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus met with the leadership of the Ministries of Agriculture of Bulgaria and Georgia, as well as the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis. At the meetings, issues of bilateral and regional cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed in detail.

On the sidelines of the event, a protocol on internships in Germany for students of Belarusian agricultural universities was signed with the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany.

In addition, the head of the Belarusian delegation is scheduled to speak at the 10th Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Conference, dedicated to the development of sustainable, responsible, and efficient livestock farming of the future. Igor Brylo will present Belarus's approaches to the development of this agricultural sector.
