This was stated today by the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko during a working meeting with the Head of the National Bank Nadezhda Ermakova, BelTA was informed by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"For the first time in history, our gold and foreign exchange reserves are sufficient to support any exchange rate of the national currency today. But it must be justified, reasonable, as we agreed, and definitely free," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
Nadezhda Ermakova reported to the President that the situation on the currency exchange and in the banking system as a whole is developing well. As of January 1, 2012, gold and foreign exchange reserves in the amount of $7.9 billion were formed according to international standards. The situation in the cash market is also calm.
