On May 7, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. Belarus has always been and remains an important factor of security and stability on the European continent and on the world stage. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in his address to the participants of a special solemn meeting of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in World War II, which opened on May 6 in New York.
"My people have a genetically embedded code of understanding that any confrontation between states poses a threat to life, as it can escalate into a global catastrophe," stressed the Belarusian leader. "Therefore, sovereign Belarus persistently and consistently pursues an exclusively peace-loving policy!"
The President proudly noted that Belarus, together with other peoples of the Soviet Union, made the main contribution to the Great Victory over fascism. The tragic experience of World War II led the community of nations, including Belarus, to the creation of the United Nations. "In Belarus, the UN has a reliable and active participant in the fight against the illicit trafficking of nuclear weapons and nuclear materials, drugs, human trafficking, illegal migration, and attempts to revise the outcomes of World War II," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
He regretted that many causes of military conflicts have not yet been eradicated, which require joint decisive action by all states. "This alarming list includes the pursuit of world domination, poverty, artificial barriers in trade, xenophobia and fanaticism, ignoring the right of any people to their own path of development and imposing one model on everyone," said the President of Belarus.
"We, Belarusians, will continue to do everything in our power to ensure cooperation, peace, and stability," concluded Alexander Lukashenko, congratulating the participants of the meeting on the upcoming Great Victory Day holiday.-0-
