October 9, Minsk / Liliya Krapivina - BELTA/. Belarus plans to establish its own production of space satellites. This was stated today by the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich at a meeting with the Deputy Head of the Federal Space Agency of Russia (Roscosmos) Anatoly Shilov, BELTA correspondent reports.
"We will not limit ourselves to just one spacecraft, as agreed earlier, we will consider issues of producing satellites in Belarus," Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. Thus, Belarus plans not only to continue working with spacecraft but also to produce relevant products. "This is in the interests of our states and third countries," the Prime Minister believes.
This is one of the issues discussed today at the meeting. In addition, addressing the representative of Roscosmos, the Prime Minister of Belarus highlighted the relevance of two other issues. One of them is the operation of a joint space constellation of Belarusian and Russian spacecraft. It is planned to be carried out in the same way as "conceived on the ideology of the Belarusian spacecraft paired with the Russian "Kanopus". It is expected that by the end of October this year, the parties will be able to fully operate in space with the participation of the Belarusian Mission Control Center.
A spacecraft is not only scientific and technical progress but also commerce, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. In this regard, Belarus strives for the commercialization of the project. It is necessary to discuss issues of profitably selling products from the Belarusian spacecraft within the constellation, so that this project is cost-effective, the Prime Minister emphasized. -0-
