Belarus offers Botswana supplies of machinery, cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and medicine. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Viktor Karankevich, at a meeting with the Minister of International Relations of Botswana, Unity Dow, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Your visit is a significant event for the relations between Belarus and Botswana. We have much in common, we strive to develop the economies of our countries for the benefit of our peoples, to create the most favorable living conditions, and to improve the quality of life. We are building relationships with each other based on mutual respect and trust. Belarus is a reliable partner and a true friend," said Viktor Karankevich.
According to him, the Belarusian side is ready to build relations across the entire spectrum of activities of interest to Botswana. "This includes the development of the agro-industrial complex, industry, supplies of agricultural, passenger, road construction, and utility machinery that would be useful and in demand in your country. It also includes healthcare issues, the possibility of supplying medicines, medical equipment, and developing pharmaceuticals. As well as training in secondary vocational and higher education institutions in various fields – agriculture, industry, medicine. We are ready to supply equipment, machinery, technologies, share our knowledge, experience, and competencies. We are ready to take a comprehensive approach, with the possibility of creating service centers, training personnel, and establishing joint ventures," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
In turn, Fenyo Butale thanked the Belarusian side for their hospitality. "We feel a special warmth that can only come from sincere friends and partners. Our government is new, it took office last year. Our goal is to ensure the transition from a consumer economy to an industrialized one in the very near future. We need industrialization, we need to provide enough jobs for people. We want to start this journey together with friends from whom we can learn something, gain certain knowledge and experience. We always emphasize that we are in a hurry to industrialize the economy, we are in a hurry to create new jobs. Our government inherited an economy that depended on one commodity – diamond exports. Therefore, we need diversification in various directions. Undoubtedly, one of the most important is the agricultural sector. Belarus has achievements in this area, including in the supply of agricultural machinery. We are ready to develop cooperation with you to meet our own food needs and use our resources not only for cultivation but also for processing agricultural products," he stressed.
