This was stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko on June 9 at a meeting with the Chairman of the Altai Krai Legislative Assembly Ivan Loor, BELTA correspondent reports. According to the speaker, Belarus has signed more than 70 agreements on interregional cooperation, moreover, in his opinion, this area can be singled out as a separate vector in our country. One of the confirmations of Belarus's active interaction with the regions of other countries is the visit of a delegation from the Altai Krai Legislative Assembly. Vladimir Andreichenko believes that this visit will serve as a "serious impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation." The main area of bilateral interest is agricultural machinery. Ivan Loor emphasized that in the Altai Krai, which is traditionally an agricultural region, more than 10,000 units of machinery produced in Belarus are in operation, and the region is interested in increasing the volume of its supply. According to him, Belarusian agricultural machinery "is in high demand, and its quality is highly appreciated by Altai peasants." The current visit of a representative of the Altai Krai is related to the international exhibition "Belagro-2010" held in Minsk. The Altai delegation came specifically to see samples of new equipment and to agree on its purchase. Ivan Loor noted that the volume of agricultural machinery supplies from Belarus to the Altai Krai did not decrease even during the crisis. The basis of exports to this region of Russia is the supply of tractors and tractor units (for January-April 2010, they were supplied for $2.7 million), machines and mechanisms for harvesting and threshing agricultural crops ($2.3 million), and trucks ($1.2 million). The basis of imports from the Altai Krai to Belarus in January-April of the current year included parts for internal combustion engines (for $0.8 million), friction materials and tires (for $0.4 million for each of these items). The total trade turnover between Belarus and the Altai Krai in January-April 2010 amounted to $13.9 million and increased by 58% compared to the same period in 2009. -0-
