Vladimir Putin congratulated the Belarusian side on resolving the issue of enhancing Belarus's status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
"This issue can be considered resolved. Belarus is acquiring observer status in this authoritative international organisation, whose role is growing in the modern world," said the head of the Russian state.
"We are confident that your participation in the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation will benefit both Belarus and all participants of the organisation," noted the Russian leader.
Vladimir Putin emphasised that Belarus is Russia's closest strategic partner and ally. He drew attention to the fact that the countries cooperate in all areas, from military to humanitarian, address social issues in the interests of citizens, and develop cooperative ties both within the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union. He also stressed that Belarus and Russia have many serious plans.
