On May 17, Saint Petersburg /Corr. BELTA/. Belarus will do everything possible to ensure that the upcoming parliamentary elections comply with national legislation and international standards, stated Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, on May 16 at a meeting of the CIS IPA Council, BELTA correspondent reports.
"The Parliament of the Republic of Belarus attaches great importance to the upcoming election campaign. Belarus will do everything possible to ensure that the elections are held in strict accordance with the country's Constitution, electoral legislation, and comply with national legislation and international standards," said Vladimir Andreichenko.
He assured that after the exact date of the elections is set, the Belarusian parliament will send a corresponding invitation to the CIS IPA to participate in the international observation of the elections to the House of Representatives.
In turn, speaking at the council meeting, Dmitry Gladey, Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Electoral Rights of Citizens of the CIS IPA Member States, recalled that elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will also be held this autumn.
The CIS IPA Council adopted the resolution presented by Dmitry Gladey, according to which a request will be sent to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to send a coordinator for election monitoring to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. A similar request will be sent to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the expected elections to the Ukrainian parliament.-0-
