23 December, Minsk /BelTA/. Belarus should maintain the positive trends in foreign trade that have emerged in recent months of the current year. This was stated today by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a press conference for representatives of Belarusian and foreign media, BelTA correspondent reports.
This year, the country faced difficulties of both economic and socio-political nature (the situation after the elections, negative developments related to the terrorist attack in the metro), but there are also positive aspects - good trends have emerged in the trade balance.
"We were able to pay very high prices and sell exports at a higher price by bringing order to the country. This is also due to the fact that the price of food products we export has increased. It was also due to the fact that Russia, as our main market, could pay decent money for our goods that we supply - this is a flow of currency. And it is very important that we have significantly increased trade with the European Union, and it plays an exclusively positive role for us. With Russia, we have achieved a positive balance. If we only maintain this trend, we will have no problems in the economy, finance, or socio-political life," the President noted.-0-
