"In total, 10 million tonnes of bread," said Leonid Zayats, referring to the final harvest. The head of the ministry acknowledged that the current year has been challenging for farmers, and there was no certainty of achieving such results.
According to the minister, approximately 250,000 tonnes of grain remain in the fields, plus 170,000 tonnes from peasant farms. "A good harvest has been grown on personal subsidiary plots. As a result, grain and leguminous crops across all categories of farms will amount to approximately 8 million 150 thousand tonnes. Additionally, we will produce 730,000 tonnes of rapeseed oil and 17,000 tonnes of colza," informed Leonid Zayats. A good corn harvest is also expected, he assured.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food also noted that potato harvesting is currently underway, with about 4% completed. "The yield is 311 centners per hectare, which is 23 centners higher than in 2016. This will allow us to form substantial potato reserves to meet our state's domestic needs and establish export potential reserves of at least 300,000 tonnes," he explained.
