In January-February 2012, Belarus increased its goods exports to the European Union countries by 2.5 times (growth rate of 255.7%) compared to the same period last year, amounting to $3.669 billion. This was reported to BelTA by the National Statistical Committee of Belarus. At the same time, imports from EU countries (27 countries) amounted to 100.3% of the same period in 2011, or $1.139 billion. In total, Belarus's trade turnover with the European Union for the two months of 2012 reached $4.807 billion, which is 87% more than in January-February of last year. According to Belstat, trade turnover with CIS countries for the two months of 2012 amounted to over $8 billion (growth rate of 130.5%), exports - $3.103 billion (growth rate of 128.9%), imports - $4.905 billion (131.55%). The balance was negative, amounting to $1.802 billion. With the Customs Union countries, the trade turnover of goods for January-February amounted to $6.990 billion (an increase of 37.6%), exports reached $2.343 billion (an increase of 21.7%), imports - Br4.647 billion (an increase of 47.3%). The balance was negative - $2.303 billion. According to the methodology of foreign trade statistics, the volume of foreign trade in goods for January-February 2012 amounted to $14.234 billion, including exports - $7.310 billion, imports - $6.923 billion. The value of the republic's exports compared to January-February 2011, calculated at current prices, increased 1.6 times, or by $2.812 billion, and imports by 9.1%, or by $576.6 million. In January-February 2012, a positive balance of foreign trade in goods was formed in the amount of $387 million. For the same period last year, the foreign trade balance had a negative value and amounted to $1 billion 848.1 million. In the two months of 2012, export-import operations were registered with 161 countries worldwide. Goods were supplied to the markets of 126 states, and products were imported from 143 countries. The main trading partners of the republic in January-February 2012 were: Russia - 48.1% of the total trade turnover, the Netherlands - 13.9%, Ukraine - 6.1%, Latvia - 5.3%, Germany - 4.1%, China and Poland - 2.4% each, Italy - 2.1%, Lithuania - 1.2%, Kazakhstan - 1%. In terms of the commodity composition of exports, the largest share falls on oil products, their supplies account for 35.3% of the total volume of goods. Potash fertilizers account for 3.8%, trucks - 3.4%, tractors and tractor units, as well as dairy products, account for 3.1% each, ferrous metals make up 2.8%. Other goods in this structure account for 48.4%.
