30 September, Minsk /BELTA/. The winner of the national stage of the "Entrepreneur of the Year" competition will represent the republic at the international competition in Monte Carlo, BELTA was informed by the company that organised the event in Belarus - Ernst & Young LLC.
"For the first time, Belarusian entrepreneurs will be able to receive an assessment not only within the country, but also at a prestigious international competition with a long history," the company representatives quoted Sergey Rummas, a member of the jury of the national stage competition and Chairman of the Board of OJSC "Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus". Speaking about the criteria for selecting winners, he noted that it would be wrong to be guided solely by the scale of business or profit maximisation when assessing candidates. "The social benefit and social responsibility of entrepreneurship are no less important. And I will take this into account when preferring one candidate over another," said Sergey Rummas.
In general, the main requirements for assessing participants in the national stage will include the financial performance of the enterprise, stable positive dynamics, innovative approaches used, managerial abilities and the entrepreneurial talent of the leader.
The results of the first national stage of the "Entrepreneur of the Year" international competition and the national award ceremony will be held in November 2014 in Minsk. The competition is aimed at recognising the contribution of leading entrepreneurs to the national and global economy, promoting the rise of entrepreneurial activity and economic growth in the participating countries, and finding role models in today's business for the next generation of entrepreneurs. On 1 October, the next stage of the competition will be held in Minsk – a meeting of the jury with the participants.
The "Entrepreneur of the Year" competition is held in more than 145 cities in 60 countries worldwide, accounting for over 90% of global GDP.
