"According to the Doing Business 2017 ranking, Belarus has entered the ranks of the world's top ten countries that have implemented the largest number of reforms to improve business operations. This means that Belarus is one of the most dynamically moving countries in terms of climbing up the rankings. Furthermore, the country has entered the top five leading middle-income countries in terms of creating business conditions," Jan Chul Kim emphasised. Belarus holds the 5th position here, with Macedonia being the leader in this group (ranking among the top ten overall), followed by Georgia, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan.
The Head of the World Bank Representative Office noted that middle-income countries are the most promising for investment. "Developed country markets are quite stable, and the margin, the profit that an investor can obtain, is small. Only emerging, new markets present greater interest. And when investors consider investing in middle-income countries, Belarus will immediately come into their view due to its good ranking position," he stated.
As reported, Belarus ranked 37th out of 190 states in the Doing Business 2017 ("Doing Business - 2017") ranking. Last year, the country was in 50th place.
