A citizen of Belarus, driving a Russian vehicle, attempted to export aluminium worth almost Br120 million from the country, the Vitebsk Regional Committee of State Control informed a BELTA correspondent. During raid operations on the Brest-Minsk-Russian Federation border highway near the village of Turovichi, the Orsha inter-district department of the financial investigations department of the State Control Committee for the Vitebsk region, together with traffic police officers of the Orsha District Department of Internal Affairs, detained a vehicle belonging to a private enterprise from Smolensk. The vehicle was heading towards the Russian Federation with a cargo of scrap and waste of non-ferrous metals without accompanying documents. The weight of the illegal cargo was 20 tonnes. It was established that almost two months ago, this driver had already attempted to violate the established procedure for exporting ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap and waste from Belarus. At that time, he intended to export 20.5 tonnes of scrap metal worth Br119.2 million. A report on an administrative offence has again been drawn up against the citizen.
