14 June, Minsk /Irina Aniskevich - BELTA/. RUP "Belorusneft Production Association" has launched an experiment on the production of AI-92 gasoline with a detergent additive. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the association's press service. The experiment is linked to the association's initiative to organise the production of gasoline that meets the modern standards of the World Fuel Charter. This declaration of quality requirements for automotive gasoline and diesel fuel was published in 1998 by leading global manufacturers of cars and automotive engines. One of the main conditions of the charter is the minimisation of gasoline's tendency to form carbon deposits on engine intake system parts through the use of special detergent additives. The production of the new product has been mastered at the Mozyr oil products depot, which uses an automated system for introducing BASF's Keropur additive into gasoline. The composition and optimal dosage of the additive have been specially selected for the Belarusian market based on engine tests and trials conducted in Germany. Currently, gasoline with the additive is sold at 14 filling stations in the Gomel region. Its price is the same as gasoline without the additive, and it is not accompanied by special labelling. Drivers are informed about the new product through announcements and leaflets. Based on the results of monitoring the sales of the new product and consumer surveys, the possibility of expanding sales volume will be considered. The price of gasoline with the additive is not planned to be increased. As explained by the association, AI-92 with the additive helps to maximally preserve the vehicle's characteristics as intended by the manufacturer, and also provides a number of additional benefits compared to ordinary gasoline. For example, it cleans the engine of carbon deposits, reduces wear, prevents corrosion, lowers fuel consumption, and reduces the emission of harmful substances in exhaust gases. In Western Europe, about 80% of gasoline contains detergent additives. In the USA, since 1996, the addition of detergent additives to gasoline has been mandatory. Belarusian and Russian fuel standards - GOST R 51105-97, GOST R 51866-2002 (EN 228-99), STB 1656-2006 (EN 228:2004) allow for the addition of additives to automotive gasoline to improve their performance characteristics.
