May 16, Minsk /BELTA/. The sowing of spring crops in Belarus is nearing completion. As of May 16, agricultural enterprises of the republic have fulfilled the plan by almost 90%, BELTA was informed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Spring crops have been sown on more than 2,277 thousand hectares out of the planned 2,546.3 thousand hectares. Two regions – Gomel and Mogilev – have already completed the task (101% and 102.4% respectively). Farmers in the Minsk region are close to completing the sowing (90.7%). In the Grodno region, spring crops have been sown on 87.9% of the sown areas, in the Brest region – on 79.5%, in the Vitebsk region – on 75.6%.
Cereals and legumes have been sown on 192.5 thousand hectares, which is 77% of the planned area. The Mogilev region has already completed sowing; in the Minsk region, cereals and legumes have been sown on 95.8% of the sown areas, in the Vitebsk region – on 79.2%, in the Grodno region – on 64.1%, in the Gomel region – 63.2%, in the Brest region – 62.2% of the areas.
Four regions have completed sowing flax – these are the Brest, Gomel, Grodno, and Mogilev regions. In the Vitebsk region, 19.6% of the areas remain unsown, in the Minsk region – 15.4%.
The task for corn sowing has been completed by 88.6%, including for grain – by 115.4%, for silage – by 79.7%. Farmers in the Mogilev, Brest, and Grodno regions have exceeded the 100% mark for potato planting (100.2%, 104.3%, and 113.6% respectively). In the Mogilev region, potatoes have been planted on slightly more than 73% of the areas, in the Gomel region – on 61.7%, in the Vitebsk region – on 41.8%.-0-
