On June 8, Minsk / Ekaterina Nechaeva - BELTA /. Belarusian deputies continue to work on a radical simplification of the tax system. The amendments that need to be made to the legislation for this purpose will be discussed by parliamentarians at an off-site meeting of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Budget, Finance and Tax Policy. It will be held on June 9 and 10 at the enterprises of Grodno and Slonim. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the chairman of the relevant commission, Alexander Antonenko. According to the legislative activity plan, the development of a bill on amendments to the Tax Code is expected this year. In particular, the possibility is being studied to allow losses to be carried forward to future profits in 2012, to extend the periods for documentary confirmation of the export of goods outside Belarus, and to revise the grounds for levying fines for administrative offenses in the field of tax legislation. "If earlier the task in the country was to increase production volumes, now the main goal is the innovative path of development. Therefore, the issue of reducing the profit tax rate is being discussed. This is understandable: profit tax is the main source of internal investment for an enterprise. The higher the profit tax rate, the less is invested in the development of the enterprise," the deputy said. To study and systematize proposals for changes in tax legislation, a working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Rumas operates under the Council of Ministers. Deputies of the House of Representatives actively participate in its work. To discuss additional measures to simplify the tax system, parliamentarians organized an off-site meeting of the commission. "Heads of economic services, chief accountants, and enterprise managers are invited to it. I would like to discuss with practical specialists how useful the proposed legislative amendments are and whether they will have a positive impact on the enterprise's economy," explained Alexander Antonenko.
