On November 28, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. Deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus today adopted the draft law "On the Ratification of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Commission," BelTA reports. The Treaty provides that the Customs Union Commission will cease to exist after the relevant domestic procedures and will effectively be absorbed by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The EEC will have over 170 powers and functions. The commission's structure is two-tiered. The EEC Council will include one representative from each state at the level of deputy heads of government. A commission's Board will also be formed – a permanent professional executive body consisting of nine members (three from each country). The share of employees with Belarusian citizenship in the EEC will be 6%, citizens of Kazakhstan – 10%, citizens of Russia – 84%. However, citizens of all three states must be represented in each category of positions. The work of the EEC will be based on principles such as equality and openness. Decisions will be made on the basis of consensus. At the suggestion of the Belarusian side, the rotation of the chairmen of the Board is envisaged. The document provides for the transformation of the EurAsEC Interstate Council into the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of heads of state and heads of government.-0-
