Belarusian defence sector companies will showcase their latest technologies, systems, and equipment at the major international arms and security technology exhibition IDEX-2013, which will be held from February 17 to 21 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Vladimir Lavrenyuk, a representative of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus for Information and Public Relations, informed a BelTA correspondent about this. "Belarus has been an unwavering participant in the IDEX exhibition since 1999. Our enterprises exhibit their best developments and equipment samples there," emphasized Vladimir Lavrenyuk. This time, 8 companies of the Belarusian defence industry will present their products at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, located in the very heart of the capital. These include GVTUP "Belvneshpromservice", OJSC "MZKT", OJSC "ALEVKURP", OJSC "140 Repair Plant", OJSC "AGAT-Control Systems" – managing company of the "Control Systems Geoinformation" holding, OJSC "Peleng", OJSC "KB "Display". CJSC "BeltechExport" acts as the organizer of the Belarusian exposition. It is planned that the delegation will be headed by the Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee, Sergey Gurulev. IDEX is one of the most representative defence-oriented platforms in the world and the largest international exhibition of arms and security technologies in the Middle East. It is held under the patronage of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the support of the country's government and armed forces. According to the exhibition organizers, over 900 companies will participate this year – practically all global arms manufacturers. According to preliminary estimates by the exhibition organizers, it will be visited by over 50,000 people, and it is open only to specialists. "The event is a unique platform for establishing and strengthening relationships with government agencies, enterprises, and armed forces representatives throughout the region," emphasized Vladimir Lavrenyuk. In addition, he mentioned that Belarusian developments will be presented at the international exhibition Intersec, which will be held in Dubai from January 15 to 17. This is the first major exhibition this year where Belarusian enterprises will present their products in the field of security equipment.
