23 February, Minsk / Ekaterina Nechaeva - BELTA/. Belarusian parliamentarians, who will take part in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on 24 and 25 February in Vienna, intend to remind their colleagues of the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state and to call for mutual understanding and cooperation. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by the press service of the House of Representatives.
"Parliamentarians will present their position on the main agenda items, emphasizing that Belarus is a sovereign state and that the decisions of some international organizations and national parliaments based on the results of the presidential elections held in December 2010 constitute interference in the internal affairs of an independent state. Not restrictive measures, but only the search for mutual understanding and cooperation are the only correct and reliable tools for developing relations and cooperation," the House of Representatives stated.
Belarus will be represented at the OSCE PA session by a parliamentary delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, Viktor Guminsky. The delegation also includes Nina Mazai, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for International Affairs and National Security.
Belarusian parliamentarians will take part in the meetings of the OSCE PA Standing Committee, as well as in the meetings of the three OSCE PA General Committees: on Political Affairs and Security, on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and the Environment, and on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs.
In connection with Belarus's chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), during the OSCE PA winter session, the Belarusian delegation plans to hold an informal meeting with representatives of the delegations of CSTO member states to exchange views and develop common approaches to the issues under consideration at the event.-0-
