On May 25, Polotsk / Diana Kurilo – BELTA /. Belarusian writers congratulate Polotsk on its anniversary. A literary and musical lounge has opened on the concert stage near the monument to the Belarusian printer Symeon of Polotsk, a BELTA correspondent reports. The lounge always opens its doors during the celebration of Polotsk City Day, with poems and songs about the city being performed. But this year there is a very special occasion: the 1150th anniversary of the cradle of Belarusian statehood, special guests, and a very extensive program for Polotsk residents and city guests. Polotsk has inspired and continues to inspire creativity, stir hearts and minds. And this is reflected in the poems of Polotsk poets, in their songs and congratulations. Representatives of the literary association "Nadvinje" take part in the program. Poems about Polotsk by Nikolai Boldovsky, Tatiana Levkovich, Galina Zagurskaya, Alla Ivanova, Alexander Kiryushin, Vladimir Kuts, Vitaly Moskalov, Larisa Mikhnovich will be the beginning of a literary ode to the jubilee. Representatives of the literary association "Polotskaya Vetv" will greet Polotsk residents and guests from the stage of the venue. Since its foundation in 1989, the "Vetv" members have held numerous seminars, literary competitions, and written many poems, some of which are dedicated to their native Polotsk. Raisa Antonevich, Leonid Volkov, Elena Basikirskaya, Anatoly Besperstykh, Petr Mager, Yulia Ponomarenko, Alexander Ratkevich, Ekaterina Sidarovich, Anatoly Stepanov are going to read their works. Member of the Union of Writers of Belarus Iosif Rogal will read poems dedicated to Polotsk. Congratulations to Polotsk will also be heard from members of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus: Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko, Boris Beleženko. In the afternoon, a concert program "The World's Luminary Ignited by God" will be held on the same stage. It is dedicated to outstanding Polotsk residents and great figures of Belarusian history – Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Francysk Skaryna, and Symeon of Polotsk. Inspired by their deeds and works, Halperovich, Grakhovsky, Gilevich, Pozdnyakov, and many, many others have dedicated poems to the figures of the Polotsk land. Their poems will be read by students of Polotsk State University and the ensemble of spiritual lyrical song "Rodnik". Poets, representatives of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the "Union of Writers" will perform as the final part of the concert program. -0-
