The UNDP in Belarus is engaged not only in attracting the best foreign practices to the country at the present stage but also in sharing Belarusian developments on the implementation of the SDGs at the international level. This was announced on the ONT television channel by the Permanent Representative of the UNDP in Belarus, Alexandra Solovyova, according to BELTA.
The UNDP in Belarus provides both financial and advisory assistance in the implementation of various projects and is involved in attracting the best international practices. "At this stage, the issue of attracting Belarusian practices to other countries has become relevant. I would like to note Belarus's experience in the field of SDGs, when a system of national coordinator, regional coordination was created at the highest level in the country, youth engagement is carried out, as well as the measurement of SDG results, so that they become a reality," said Alexandra Solovyova.
The Permanent Representative of the UNDP in Belarus noted that the priority areas in the preparation of the new country programme (for 2021-2025) are the green economy, digitalization, strengthening Belarus's international position on global platforms, including in the implementation of the SDGs. Social aspects will also not be overlooked - improving the living standards of the population and developing an inclusive economy.
In 2015, UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are aimed at eradicating poverty and hunger, combating inequality and injustice, and addressing issues related to climate change. The 2030 Agenda is a comprehensive strategy for improving people's quality of life, development and consumption without prejudice to future generations. All 17 Goals are also adapted for Belarus.
