Belarusian sanatoriums for war veterans, labour veterans, and disabled persons are operating at 100% capacity. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Maria Gorbatsevich, Head of the Department for Stationary Social Service Facilities and Capital Construction of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

To organise sanatorium-resort treatment and health improvement for veterans of war, labour, and disabled persons, four republican sanatoriums with 864 beds ("Berezina", "Yaselda", "Vyazhuti", and "Belaya Vezha") operate within the system of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. Approximately 16.5 thousand people improve their health annually in these health resorts.

"All sanatoriums are equipped with modern medical equipment, and a barrier-free environment has been created everywhere. In the "Belaya Vezha", "Yaselda", and "Vyazhuti" sanatoriums, conditions have been created for the accommodation and treatment of wheelchair users," noted Maria Gorbatsevich. "The sanatoriums of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection are socially oriented. As a rule, residents of Belarus who are entitled to free sanatorium-resort treatment (mainly Group I and II disabled persons) undergo health improvement there. Labour veterans and Group III disabled persons undergo sanatorium-resort treatment on a partial payment basis (they pay from 15% to 30% of the voucher cost depending on their income and the season)."

Since 2009, over Br141 billion has been allocated from the national budget for the construction and reconstruction of sanatoriums. For these funds, the hydrotherapy department, the physical therapy hall, the psychological relaxation room, the assembly hall, the dance hall, and the game room, the passage to the mud bath and the medical building, and the swimming pool of the "Yaselda" sanatorium have been reconstructed; a medical building has been commissioned at the "Berezina" sanatorium; the boiler house has been modernised, and the construction of a medical building and water supply facilities for the "Vyazhuti" sanatorium is underway; at the "Belaya Vezha" sanatorium, the laundry and the checkpoint have been reconstructed, and a residential building for 108 people, a dining hall, a food block, and an assembly hall have been commissioned.
