President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented state awards to distinguished figures from various fields. The official ceremony took place today at the Palace of Independence, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"It is a pleasure to see you all here today on the eve of an important political event – the Address to the Belarusian People and the National Assembly," the Belarusian leader addressed the event participants.

Noting that representatives from different spheres of life and regions of the country, united by the highest professionalism and hard work for results, were present at the ceremony, the President pointed out that there were also those who had come from abroad: "In their hearts, these people are true Belarusians."

The Head of State emphasized that Belarusians are peaceful and hardworking people who look to the future with optimism because they know for sure that everything is in their hands. "Your achievements are the brightest proof of this. Behind almost every one of them stands a cohesive work collective where, I am convinced, new professionals are growing up, whom we will undoubtedly see here in the future," the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that people who chose medicine out of a calling were also present at the ceremony. "Today, Belarusian healthcare is not only withstanding the viral onslaught but also continues to provide scheduled care in all areas (and you probably hear that in neighboring and other countries, with a serious rise in viral diseases, scheduled care is cancelled for 3-4 weeks). With doctors like these, who today dedicate their hearts and labor for the recovery of our people, we have nothing to fear," the Belarusian leader stressed.

The President expressed special gratitude to scientists, whose developments in various fields help implement the latest technologies and successfully compete in the market, as well as to teachers, who lay a fertile foundation of knowledge upon which highly qualified specialists grow.

"I am grateful to those who, through their professional path, have chosen to preserve historical memory, develop culture and art, help us stay connected to our roots, and make a truly invaluable contribution to the spiritual code of our people," the Head of State continued.

Alexander Lukashenko also addressed words of gratitude to Belarusian agricultural workers: "To modest and, as is customary to say, 'hardworking' people. Those who feed the entire country with their work."

"But all the well-being listed is possible only in a state where peace and harmony reign. They are like air. When you have them, you don't notice them," said the President, noting that among the awardees there are many military personnel, under whose protection are the state border, the country's security, and the life of each of us. "Thank you for your service, loyalty, and determination in confronting all external and internal threats," added the head of state.
