9 January, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. RUE "Beltelecom" will increase the cost of Internet access (byfly) and interactive television (Zala) services from 18 January 2013. This was reported to BELTA by the enterprise.
Prices for Internet access services will increase by an average of 9.7%. Interactive television will become more expensive by an average of 10%. In addition, the rates for calls from landline phones to mobile operator subscribers will increase by an average of 10%.
Additional local telephone services, information services, some hosting services provided by the RUE "Beltelecom" Data Processing Centre, and other services will also become more expensive.
The national telecommunications operator explains the tariff increase by the need for network modernization, acquisition of modern equipment, and development of the latest technical solutions, which are necessary for the further development of telecommunication technologies and ensuring high quality of services. "This forces the company to make changes to the cost of some telecommunication services, bringing it to the level of cost recovery," the enterprise noted.
RUE "Beltelecom" has already increased tariffs in January. From 1 January, amendments and additions to the Tax Code of Belarus, adopted on 26 October 2012, came into force. Communication services provided to individuals became subject to value-added tax. In this regard, the company increased the cost of communication services for individuals by 20% (local, long-distance, international telephone services, information services, data network services, byfly, Zala, etc.).-0-
