On July 23, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Beshenkovichi district was the first in the Vitebsk region to complete the winter rapeseed harvest. In total, winter rapeseed has been harvested on 33.8 thousand hectares in the region, which is 65.1% of the areas cultivated with this crop, Ivan Fedorov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. As of July 23, 56.8 thousand tons of winter rapeseed have been threshed in the region, with an average yield of 16.8 centners per hectare. The highest yields are recorded in Verkhnedvinsk (20.9 centners/ha), Dokshitsy (20.7 centners/ha), and Sharkovshchina (19.9 centners/ha) districts. Beshenkovichi district has completely finished the rapeseed harvest, and this work is nearing completion in Dokshitsy and Senno districts, where 89% and 87% of the areas have been harvested, respectively. Farmers in 12 districts of the region have started harvesting grain crops: Beshenkovichi, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Dokshitsy, Vitebsk, Glubokoe, Lepel, Orsha, Polotsk, Senno, Tolochin, Chashniki, Sharkovshchina, and Shumilino. The harvest campaign will fully unfold in the region in the coming days, noted Ivan Fedorov, adding that the equipment and personnel are ready for it. Other significant agricultural work is also underway in the region. Thus, the harvesting of seeds of early cereal grasses is nearing completion (80% harvested). Farmers have also begun flax pulling (the first thousand hectares have been pulled). -0-
