On November 21, Minsk /Andrei Asfura - BELTA/. Belarus needs to develop non-cash payments at roadside service facilities. This was announced today by the Chairperson of the Board of the National Bank, Nadezhda Ermakova, at the opening of the IX International Forum on Banking Information Technologies "BankIT'12", according to a BELTA correspondent.
It is necessary that car services can be paid for not only with cash, but also with non-cash payment methods, said Nadezhda Ermakova. It is proposed to introduce non-cash payment methods at toll collection points on highways, as well as at roadside service facilities.
In addition, non-cash payments need to be more actively promoted in rural areas. There are many opportunities for this. The National Bank has asked software developers for assistance in promoting IT technologies in rural areas. In general, as Nadezhda Ermakova noted, various payment methods, including remote ones, should be developed in the republic.
Having visited the exhibition organized as part of the "BankIT'12" forum, the head of the National Bank gained a new perspective on the role of IT technologies in the banking system. "It was pleasing that there are quite a few companies in Belarus that promote banking IT technologies not only in Belarus but also abroad," she explained. Many companies export software for the banking sector.
The "BankIT" forum has been held since 2004. It serves as a platform for banks and IT solution developers to discuss current issues and strengthen cooperation. "The forum makes a significant contribution to the improvement of IT technologies in the banking system of Belarus," believes Nadezhda Ermakova. Moreover, the current forum, which takes place on November 21-22 in Minsk, has turned out to be the most numerous, and the number of sections where various issues of applying information technologies in the banking system are planned to be discussed has also increased.
The banking system of Belarus, according to the Chairperson of the Board, holds leading positions in the implementation of information technologies in customer service. "The banking system is always one step ahead in terms of implementing IT solutions compared to other industries," concluded Nadezhda Ermakova.
