Safe living in the dormitory!

During the reporting period of 2017, 4 fires occurred in dormitories belonging to various business entities in the Republic of Belarus (08.01.2017 – in dormitory No. 3 of OJSC "Agat-Electromechanical Plant" in Minsk; 10.02.2017 – in the dormitory of OJSC "Kupalinka" in Soligorsk and the dormitory of the Vitebsk branch of the Educational Institution "Belarusian State Academy of Communications" in Vitebsk; 11.02.2017 – in the dormitory of OJSC "Priborostroitelny Zavod Optron" in Minsk).

There are 7 dormitories located in the town of Lepel, making the issue of safe living in them relevant. Fire safety rules that every dormitory resident must comply with:

- In all residential premises of dormitories, a schematic evacuation plan for the respective floor, a memo with fire safety requirements for residents, and instructions on actions in case of fire must be posted in visible locations;
- Premises, installations, and equipment of the facility must be used only for their intended purpose, as defined by the design and operational technical documentation, and in accordance with the requirements specified therein;
- Smoking in dormitories is permitted only in specially designated, equipped, and marked "Smoking Area" locations, as determined by the head's order, while safety measures must be observed to prevent fires;
- Doors of evacuation exits to stairwells from corridors, lobbies, and halls, as well as external evacuation doors, are not permitted to be locked with keys or latches that cannot be opened from the inside without a key;
- It is prohibited to obstruct passageways, exits, and doors on evacuation routes, or to place furniture, flowers, plants, and other property that reduces the minimum evacuation width and height.

Actions in case of fire:

a citizen who discovers a fire must:

1 - immediately report the address and location of the fire by calling "101" or "112" or directly to the fire and rescue unit;
2 - take measures to notify people and evacuate them;
3 - take possible measures to extinguish the fire using available primary fire extinguishing means.
