Less than an hour later, a 26-year-old Audi driver on the same street hit a 6-year-old pedestrian who, according to preliminary information, suddenly ran onto the roadway outside of a pedestrian crossing. The boy was hospitalised with injuries, and an investigation is underway.

We remind parents to regularly review basic road safety rules with their children. Explain to your child where, when, and how they can cross the road. Tell them that they should only step onto the roadway after ensuring that all drivers see them and are yielding. Do not allow them to step onto the road from behind parked vehicles that obstruct visibility, including in courtyards. Parents should also monitor the whereabouts of their vehicles, not allow children to drive them, and keep the ignition keys in a safe place.
