Safety in every home!

Over the past year of 2016, Lepel district experienced 28 fires, resulting in 2 fatalities. The primary causes of emergencies in residential areas continue to be careless handling of fire, violation of rules for the operation of stove heating and electrical equipment, as well as children’s mischief with fire. In most cases, fire incidents are the result of negligence and disregard for safety regulations.

To prevent fires and related fatalities, a nationwide campaign "Safety – Into Every Home!" will be held in the district from February 1 to February 28.

The campaign will be conducted in four stages.

The first stage will take place at the day care department of the Territorial Centre for Social Services of Lepel District. The main focus when working with the elderly, pensioners, and lonely individuals will be on conducting preventive discussions and training on proper actions in case of an emergency.

Participants of the second stage of the campaign will include students of Lepel Agricultural and Technical College and senior pupils of the city’s schools. The events will involve various forms of engagement such as discussions and game programs, contests, quizzes, questionnaires, screening of educational films, and evacuation drills, etc.

The third stage of the campaign will be held at enterprises and organizations, and the fourth stage will take place on February 28 at the "Univermag" store.

Activists of the district branch of the Belarusian Voluntary Fire Society, members of young rescuers-firefighters clubs, students, and employees of other interested organizations will join the employees of the district emergency situations department in conducting the campaign.

During the events, the main emphasis will be placed on the prevention of fires in residential buildings. Rescuers will provide information on the fire situation and fatalities, explain the main causes of fires, and clarify personal safety rules and requirements. Special attention will be paid to the rules for operating stove heating and electrical equipment, and neunacceptability of leaving children unattended, installation of fire alarms in households, knowledge of primary fire extinguishing means and actions in case of a fire.
