Safe Route to School

At the beginning of the new academic quarter, the State Automobile Inspectorate stepped up child safety controls

With the start of the new academic quarter, State Automobile Inspectorate officers across the region are conducting the "Safe Route to School" preventive campaign from January 8 to 9.

Its main goal is to ensure children's safety on the roads and to foster safe behaviour skills among schoolchildren near the carriageway.

As part of the campaign, law enforcement officers, together with educators and parents, are: - conducting classes and discussions with students on traffic rules; - organising practical training sessions on the safe "home - school - home" route; - on duty near educational institutions with heavy traffic; - conducting raids to stop violations of child transportation rules in vehicles.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urges all road users to be especially attentive near schools and kindergartens, to observe speed limits and the rules for passing pedestrian crossings.
